In 2004 the First Baptist Church of Geneva, IL became the 127th home for a Royal Family Kids’ Camp.  From a camp of 40 kids and 44 volunteers that first summer, the ministry has grown steadily over the years to the point that 4 camps will be held in 2009 reaching out to over 100 children.  In addition to an annual summer  camp for boys and girls ages 7-11 consisting of 50 children, the church also hosts two graduate retreat weekends, at the same campgrounds, for kids who have aged out of the summer camping program and are now in Junior High – called Shining Stars.  In 2009, ten kids aged out of Shining Stars and joined a third ministry called The Summit.  These kids who have been with us since 2004, and are now in High School, enjoyed a week long outward bound camping experience in July and begin a mentoring program in the fall.  All of the children who come to camp with us have been abused, neglected or abandoned and have been referred originally through DCFS of Illinois.
